Long Pending export orders have been executed during November, to be further expanded during the following months, the Hyderabad-based company said in a statement. With the number of countries that have granted emergency use approvals for Covaxin increasing, exports to additional countries will also commence from December, it said.

Mohan also said that there were no vaccines when the Covid-19 hit India and the world, but the Central government had taken the right steps at that point of time. He further added that since there were no past precedents, the task to develop a vaccine in such a short span of time seemed impossible. However, Bharat Biotech succeeded and accomplished the goal in less than a year.

The deal, which was signed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) back in November 2020, has been scrapped with immediate effect, Bharat Biotech officials said in a statement. The move comes after Brazilian authorities suspended the $324 million contract, signed for procuring a total of 20 million covid vaccines, amid a major political row in Brazil. It even launched an investigation into the deal.
